CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you” (John 16:23). In John 16, Jesus is explaining to His disciples what their lives will be like after the initial outpouring of the Holy Spirit. In His explanation, He lays out the New Testament, Holy Spirit-led model for prayer for His disciples. We should pray 1) to the Father, 2) in Jesus’ Name, 3) with the Holy Spirit. Does your prayer life lack vitality? Are you discouraged because it doesn’t seem like God is blessing the things you pray for? Ask the Holy Spirit what God would have you pray. Then, pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, with full confidence that you are praying with the assistance of the Helper: God’s Holy Spirit. Get ready for transformation!!!

Prayer:
Father, thank You that Your Son Jesus Christ left us detailed instructions for prayer! I pray that Your Holy Spirit would guide me into all understanding, and illuminate to me those things for which I should be praying. I want to hear from You and pray according to Your will!
