Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. – Prov 16:9
God wants us to have grand plans. He wants us to receive the big picture for our lives from Him, so that we can plan accordingly. We partner with God to pick our final destination, according to His will. But many small steps are required along the way.
God is the One who guides us every step of the way. Every big dream requires many small steps, and He is willing to order each and every single step we take. He guides our footsteps: the parts of our journey that are usually too small to notice. He pays attention to all the details, and tells us what to do at all times. He also asks that we would be willing to rearrange all our plans at a moment’s notice.
Our privilege is to follow His subtle leadings: even if we can’t see how they contribute to our grand plans!
Prayer:
Father, make me sensitive to the subtle leadings of Your Holy Spirit! I want to partner with You. I want to listen to every little secret You whisper into my heart. My heart is Yours! Guide my steps, in Jesus’ name!
