Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. – 2 Sam 22:1

David spoke to the Lord. He didn’t write a song to get airtime on the radio. He didn’t preach a message to get discovered. He didn’t write a Facebook post to go viral! He spoke to the Lord, His audience of One.

What is your motivation for doing what you do? Do you do things to get noticed? Or do you do things in service to God alone?

Everything you do: do for an audience of One. David didn’t seek glory; and in return, he was glorified. David didn’t seek to be remembered; and in return, his song was forever memorialized in Scripture! Serve God; and He will take care of the rest.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men… – Col 3:23

Prayer:

Father, I want to live my life for an audience of One! I love You, and I will live my life for You and You alone, in Jesus’ name.
