CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” (Acts 15:10) There will always be those who seek to add to the requirements of righteousness. The elders at Jerusalem recognized that no unnecessary burdens should be added to the early church, and we should recognize that as well. Righteousness comes only by faith in Jesus Christ. There is nothing any one of us can do to earn our salvation; Jesus Christ earned it on our behalf, once and for all, when He died for our sins on the Cross. Rejoice in the fact that salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ, and accept His free gift of eternal life to us!
Prayer:
Father, thank You that Your Son Jesus Christ earned the victory for us on the Cross! I know that righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ alone. I accept, and I believe in You!
