CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed” (Acts 16:26).What was the purpose of God rescuing Paul from prison? It wasn’t physical freedom; we see Paul back in prison voluntarily in Acts 16:36 so he can declare his right to lawful treatment a as a Roman citizen. God shook the earth and opened the doors of the prison for one purpose: salvation. Paul was able to use the supernatural event to preach the Gospel to the jailer and lead his entire household to eternal life in Christ Jesus! The question is this: when God does something supernatural in your life, do you use it to your own advantage? Or do you use it as an opportunity to preach the Gospel and lead even your oppressors to salvation through Jesus Christ?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for performing miracles in my life. Help me to remember to use them as an opportunity to preach the Gospel to everyone I can!
