Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this. – Eccl 7:10

It’s easy to look back on the past and wish things would go back to the way they were. Can’t we be kids again? Can’t we go back to before the day I did “that?”

But God promises your future will be better than your past. It is a waste of time, then, to look back on your past and wish things could go back to the way they once were. If your relationship with God is growing every day, it will be impossible to look back and think your past was better than your present! As of today, you have spent more time with God than ever before. You and He have a history today that you didn’t have yesterday! You get to know that His future for you is better than any past you have ever experienced, in Jesus’ name!

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” – C.S. Lewis

Prayer:

Father, help me to always look ahead. My past does not define me; You define me! I declare that all my better days are in front of me, in Jesus’ name.
