Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a covering. And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain. – Is 4:5-6

Isaiah was speaking to a sinful Israel: a nation full of God’s people who refused to do God’s will. Yet, even in the midst of their disobedience, God’s solemn promise was that no matter how bad things got, His presence would never leave His people! He would be a cloud by day, and a fire by night, so His people always knew He was with them.

God is still with you today. His presence provides exactly what you need at any given moment: shade when life turns up the heat, refuge when you feel attached, and shelter to weather any storm. The answer to any and all of life’s problems – no matter what you are going through – is more of God’s presence.

Prayer:

Father, I love Your presence! I know everything I need is in Your presence. The answer to every one of life’s perplexing questions is in Your presence. Thank You for Your presence, in Jesus’ name!
