Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him… -’” Is 37:21-22

King Hezekiah didn’t just pray to God; he also prayed against the enemy. Most of us pray to God, and ask for His will over our lives to come to pass. But few Christians pray against the work of Satan, our adversary.

God wants to bless you! He is a good God, and He wants good things for you! But we must never forget that we have an adversary who always seeks to block the flow of heaven in our lives. We should use Hezekiah’s dual focus in all our prayers. Cancel the enemy’s plans by praying against them, and activate God’s plans by praying to Him.

Practically, this simply looks like praying, “Lord, I cancel every single plan Satan has for me in Jesus’ name! I know that at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow. Satan has to step aside so Your plans can unfold over my life!”

Prayer:

Father, thank You that the blood of Jesus cancels all debt. Satan has nothing on me. I am not subject to his plans, in Jesus’ name! Father, I ask that Your plans and purposes for my life unfold miraculously, from this day forward!
