Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Therefore thus says the Lord God of hosts: “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” – Jer 5:14

God will activate His word so it has the effect He desires. Jeremiah was just a man; but God chose him, and ordained him a prophet to the nations (Jer 1:5). When God filled Jeremiah with His word, everything changed. Jeremiah went from being just a “youth” (Jer 1:6), to being a firebrand with world-changing speech (see Jer 1:10).

In the same way, you may be just a man (or woman); but when you get filled up with God’s word, everything is going to change! You don’t have to have the perfect words; you simply have to be filled with His perfect word! When you say what God has given you to speak, His word will be like fire, and everything around you will change!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for filling me with Your word! Thank You that when I speak Your word, power is released! I want to be a messenger of Your word, and a firebrand for Heaven, in Jesus’ name.
