Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. – Heb 11:17-19

Abraham’s obedience opened the door to so much more. Abraham could have clung to the promise. He could have refused to offer up his son Isaac to God! But he didn’t. He freely gave, because he knew Isaac was a gift from God. He freely gave, because he knew Isaac belonged to God anyway! He freely gave, because he knew God was able to raise him from the dead! And because Abraham trusted God like never before, God blessed him like never before.

Don’t cling so tightly to the promise of God that you forget about the God of the promise. Don’t worship the answer to your prayers; worship the God who answers your prayers! Give Him your hopes, plans, and dreams. Trust Him with everything you have! When He knows He has your trust, He will know you can be trusted.

Prayer:

Father, I want to trust You today: now more than ever before! You are perfect, and I am far from it; but You are holy, and I am in You! Thank You for the gift of Your love, in Jesus’ name.
