Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. – 2 John 1:12
John had a lot to say. Yet he didn’t want to write it all down, because he knew recording the message wouldn’t do it justice.
There are some things that must be said face to face. In a day and age where personal interaction is becoming less and less common, this is a timely reminder to get out and see people: face to face. For certain messages, a Facebook message, or an e-mail – or even a handwritten letter – won’t get the job done. John knew the only way his joy would be full is by spending time with other believers!
With whom have you been meaning to get a cup of coffee? With whom have you been wanting to spend some good, quality time? Ask God to help you make time in your schedule to see people in person, and speak with them face to face!
Prayer:
God, You make the time to speak with me face to face. Help me to show that same love and attention to others. Help me to make time to spend with people, face to face!
