Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. – Hos 6:6

What is the one thing God wants most in the world? Relationship with you! He values relationship with you more than anything else. The people of Israel sacrificed to God all the time; but His message to them was, more than any sacrifice, He wanted to know them!

God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the Cross to prove one thing: He is willing to spare no expense to have you with Him for all eternity. Jesus chose death so you can have life. He served as the ultimate sacrifice, so that you can know God face to face.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank You that I don’t have to rely on sacrifices and burnt offerings to take care of my sin. Jesus died – once for all – so I can know you face to face!
