Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear… – Ps 46:1-2a

God is our refuge – a hiding place when danger is all around. He is our strength, even when we feel weaker than ever. He is not only present; He is very present to help whenever we are in trouble.

Therefore, we will not fear. God’s character should dictate our response to crisis. When we know He is good, we can respond to the unknown by trusting God all the more. When we know He is strong, we can respond to weakness by leaning on Him more than ever. When we know He is near, we don’t have to settle for one moment apart from His presence.

Jesus died for you to be fearless. Will you accept His invitation to live free from all fear?

Prayer:

Father, help me to be fearless! I know You are for me; and I know Your heart is full of love towards me. You are my refuge and my strength, and therefore I will not fear.
