Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

…the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place. – Deut 1:31

You are where you are because God carried you there.

The people of Israel thought that God had forsaken them, when in fact He was carrying them. When a father carries his son, he bears the weight of his son. Jesus Christ bore the full weight of our sin on the Cross. He received the punishment we rightfully deserve, and we inherit His reward when we trust in Him!

When a father carries his son, he also picks up whatever his son is carrying. Paul reminds us to cast our cares upon God, because He cares for us (1 Pet 5:7). God accepts our worries, anxieties, and doubts; not because He has to, but because He wants to!

God will not only lighten your load; He will take on your burden and carry your full weight so that you can rest.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for carrying me. I would not be where I am, were it not for You. You have delivered me from sin, and deposited me into a position of righteousness. I am forever grateful!
