You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it… – Deut 4:2
The litmus test for every word we receive from Heaven is, does what I just heard line up with God’s word? If it’s not in His word, it’s not from Him!
God will not give us revelation that does not line up with His word. He will not show us visions that are inconsistent with His character, as defined in His word. If anyone claims to hear God’s voice, and the words that voice speaks do not line up with His written will, then it’s not Him!
Whenever you hear a rhema (i.e. spoken) word from Heaven, test it. Does Scripture support it, or refute it? If it lines up with God’s will, proceed with boldness; if not, turn back to the safety of His word.
Prayer:
Father, give me the confidence to trust Your word above all else. I know You will not tell me anything that contradicts Your written word. Help me to know Your word inside and out, so that as soon as I hear from You, I can know where Your instructions fall in line with Scripture!
