Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.” – Lk 7:22
Jesus proved His identity with tangible manifestations of God’s glory: signs, miracles and wonders. Jesus did not have to reason or argue that He Is the Son of God; He proved it!
As we make Him famous, we are asked to go out and do exactly the same things in His name. When Jesus ascended to Heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father, He gave us (His disciples) power of attorney. He gave us complete confidence that when we pray in His name, our prayers will have exactly the same effect as if He prayed them Himself!
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” – Jn 14:12
Prayer:
Father, give me the boldness and confidence to pray for miracles in the name of Jesus. I know that if Jesus did it, I can do it in His name!
