Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs. – Is 61:7

God restores double. Instead of shame, He gives you double honor. Instead of poverty, He gives you double wealth!

Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you. – Zech 9:12

God doesn’t just replace what you lost; He makes it better than it ever was before.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for restoring double! You always bless me abundantly, and I am forever grateful.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” – Is 57:15

God dwells in the high and holy place. The only way you get to Heaven is by letting God take you there. You can’t earn your way in. You can’t force your way in. You can’t buy your way in! But when you trust in Jesus, He takes you by the hand and leads you in.

God is high and lifted up in Heaven. We invite Him to take us where He is by being humble. The less you think of yourself, the more He can honor you. When we are weak, He is strong! When you humble yourself, God will exalt you.

Prayer:

Father, keep me humble! Help me never to think too highly of myself. I cannot WAIT to spend all of eternity with You in Heaven!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. – Eph 6:12

Every problem you will ever face in life has a spiritual component. As Christians, we must know this: not to be afraid, but to be better prepared.

If your marriage is on the rocks, there may be plenty of practical things you can do: work on communication, spend quality time together, or go the extra mile to serve your spouse. However, at the end of the day, you have to pray. Satan hates marriage! He despises covenant. He will do anything he can to drive Christian families apart. The way we combat his activity is through prayer.

Our battle is spiritual; but Jesus already won the war. We wrestle with powers and principalities, but we do not war. The point of wrestling is to pin your opponent: to remind him who’s boss. When we cancel Satan’s plans in the name of Jesus, we remind our adversary that he lost, and Jesus won. Scripture gives us confidence that, because of the Cross, “…the God of peace will crush Satan under [our] feet” (Rom 16:20). We don’t have to fight our spiritual enemy; we simply have to use the name of Jesus in prayer and put our adversary in his place.

You don’t have to fight for victory. You get to fight from victory. You can go into every prayer confident that Jesus already defeated Satan on the Cross!

Prayer:

Father, I cancel every one of the enemy’s plans for my life, in Jesus’ name! I know You have amazing plans for me. Help me to step boldly and confidently into those plans, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love… – Eph 5:1-2a

Children grow by imitating their parents. God is your Father. You are his “dear” child. The Hebrew word for “dear” is agapetos (Strong’s #27), which means His “favorite, [who is] worthy of love!” You will grow in love as you imitate your Father! He is endlessly patient with you as you learn to love like He loves, because you are His favorite!

God loves you so much that He gave His Only Son to have you back. Don’t you want to learn to love like that?

Prayer:

Father, help me to love like You love! You call me worthy of Your love and affection: no matter where I’ve been, and no matter what I’ve done. Thank You!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.” – Is 48:17

Do you need a business mentor? Choose God! God is the best money manager out there. He will give you supernatural creativity to generate wealth. He will bless you with new business ideas! He will teach you how to invest wisely when you listen to His voice. Financial wisdom comes from God alone. He will teach you to profit in every way!

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” – Deut 8:18

Prayer:

Father, bless me with divine money-making ability! I pray You would fill me with creative ways to generate wealth, in Jesus name. I know You want me blessed so I can go out and bless others!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. – Eph 4:26-27

The Bible does not say we should never get angry. On the contrary, Scripture specifies that we should never convert our anger into sin. We should ask God’s Holy Spirit to help us deal with our anger in productive ways, instead of allowing it to turn into harmful words and actions.

God hates sin (Ps 5:4). Scripture exhorts us to hate sin because it separates us from God. Sin should make us angry! Worldly conditions that run contrary to God’s will should make us upset! When we read about shootings in the news, we should be upset. We should have a healthy zeal for the Lord that spurs us to action when required. We should be moved by injustice, and use our anger for good. Righteous anger can be a powerful motivator for passionate prayer.

Do you feel angry? Use it to pray fervently. We must hate the sin, but love the sinner. We must passionately pray against Satan’s plans in prayer, but lovingly support every effort on the part of our brothers and sisters to be restored. Other people can never be the object of our anger; if they are, Satan wins.

Prayer:

Father, keep me from sin. Your word says I am dead to sin; so in Jesus’ name, I ask that You would really help me feel like it, every day of my life! Help me to be moved by injustice, and channel my anger into passionate prayer.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing…” – Is 43:18

God broke the mold with you!! You are unique. There is nobody on this earth who can do what you are called to do. Don’t settle for the same old, hum drum routine. Don’t let other people define how successful you will be. God wants to do a new thing in you!

You are the fulfillment of this prophecy. You are the new thing Isaiah was talking about, because Christ lives in you. God created you to do something no one else can do. He filled you with His Holy Spirit so you can go out and change the world in a way no one else can!

So, what has God called you to do? What is that dream He is calling you to embrace that you’ve been keeping on the back burner because it’s too scary to think about? There is no such thing as too big for God! Whatever He is calling you to do, go out and do it with the boldness of a lion. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me to do something no one else can do. Give me the courage to step into that calling with all my heart. I don’t need a safety net because my God is the Lord of hosts!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins… – Eph 2:1

You were dead without God! But He made you alive. He rescued you and saved you from all sin! You used to be dead in sin; now you are alive in Christ. You used to be hopeless; but now you have nothing to fear. Without God, you literally would not exist; but because of Jesus, you have eternal life! How can you respond with anything less than life-changing devotion to Jesus?

The Gospel demands a radical response. A relationship with Jesus is not just a nice thing to have on your resume: a cute complement to your lifestyle that makes your life more “full.” Without Jesus, you were nothing; but in Him, you have everything! Let’s spend every day worshipping Him with everything we’ve got!

Prayer:

Father, I was dead without You! I was completely lost, and without hope. But You found me. You rescued me, and brought me back to life. Thank You!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God”? – Is 40:27

God sees you! He has not forgotten about you. Do you think He would ever fail to fulfill the promises He made to you? He will not pass over you!

Trust in the word of God. At the end of time, His word will stand. Nothing He has spoken over your life will remain undone, if you just believe!

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. – Is 40:8

Prayer:

Father, thank You that You never pass over me! You see me, and You know me. You know the thoughts and plans You have for me, and they are better than I could ever imagine! I will trust in Your word, because You never fail.

Day 264: Praying Against the Enemy

Proverbs 23:24

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him… -’” Is 37:21-22

King Hezekiah didn’t just pray to God; he also prayed against the enemy. Most of us pray to God, and ask for His will over our lives to come to pass. But few Christians pray against the work of Satan, our adversary.

God wants to bless you! He is a good God, and He wants good things for you! But we must never forget that we have an adversary who always seeks to block the flow of heaven in our lives. We should use Hezekiah’s dual focus in all our prayers. Cancel the enemy’s plans by praying against them, and activate God’s plans by praying to Him.

Practically, this simply looks like praying, “Lord, I cancel every single plan Satan has for me in Jesus’ name! I know that at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow. Satan has to step aside so Your plans can unfold over my life!”

Prayer:

Father, thank You that the blood of Jesus cancels all debt. Satan has nothing on me. I am not subject to his plans, in Jesus’ name! Father, I ask that Your plans and purposes for my life unfold miraculously, from this day forward!
