Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. – Rev 12:11

This is the formula for overcoming all the plans of the enemy: 1) plead the blood of Jesus over your life, and 2) share your testimony!

The blood of Jesus atones for all sins. The name of Jesus causes every knee to bow (Phil 2:9-11). Jesus already won the war; our only task is to keep our head up in battle. The blood of Jesus means death cannot touch us!

Your testimony is powerful. There is no one else in the world with the same life experience as you. That makes you uniquely qualified to preach the Gospel in a way no one else can, to a group of people no one else can reach! You are you on purpose. Share your testimony with others so they can step into their identity as well. When you bring what God has done into the light, the darkness will flee!

You are washed clean by the blood of Jesus. You invite others to share in the victory you have in Christ by sharing your testimony!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus. Thank You for my unique testimony! Help me to be an encouragement: everywhere I go, and to everyone I meet!

Day 354: Building God’s House

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” – Hag 1:6

Are you frustrated with your financial situation? Do you invest, only to get little or no return? Do you earn good money, but feel like it just disappears?

Haggai offers the Bible cure to building wealth: invest in God’s house. Investing in God’s house is the path to Biblical prosperity. It may seem counterintuitive: if we invest in the church, how will we ever get a return? But God’s promise is that when we build His house, He will build ours. If we fail to invest in God’s house, nothing we do will prosper; but if we sow liberally into His house, He will pour Heaven’s resources into ours!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the invitation to build Your house! I know that as I invest in Your house, You will build mine. Thank You that when I give to You, there is an eternal reward!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.” – Rev 10:4

There is a difference between personal and corporate revelation. John was writing down his entire vision of heaven for the generations of Christians that would follow him. God clearly endorsed his sharing the majority of his vision; yet here was a small piece God didn’t want John to share. God told him to seal it up, and keep this part a secret.

God will tell you some things to share, and others to save. Some revelation is corporate, and should be shared with the people around you; other revelation is private, and is meant for you and you alone. Wisdom is knowing the difference!

Prayer:

Father, give me wisdom to know what I should share, and what I should keep to myself! Thank you for the abundant vision You share with me because of the Cross.

Day 352: Write It Down!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” – Hab 2:2-3

We should record everything God speaks to us: visions, dreams, thoughts in prayer, revelation, etc. We should make it plain, and easy to understand. The purpose is twofold:

1) It’s for you. Whenever you read it, you will be reminded of God’s faithfulness, and energized to run full speed ahead in the pursuit of His promise. Even if it takes a while for the promise to unfold, you should never panic. God invites you to have more faith in His word than you do in the reality you see around you.

2) It’s for others. Professional runners have pacers: people who help motivate them to run better and faster. Your walk with Jesus should be no different. When you write down a vision, the people you trust to read it should be ready and willing to jump in and support.

A recorded vision is evidence of God’s faithfulness. When His word comes to pass, all will see that His will was already recorded, well in advance!

Prayer:

Father, remind me to write down all the words You have spoken to me. I do it for me, and I do it for others; but ultimately I do it for You! I trust that every word You have spoken over my life will come to pass, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

He who scatters has come up before your face. Man the fort! Watch the road! Strengthen your flanks! Fortify your power mightily. – Nah 2:1

God is good! He is always for us. But we have an adversary – Satan – who seeks to do us harm.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. – 1 Pet 5:8

Be sober! Be vigilant! But do not fear. We should never be afraid of the enemy, because Jesus already defeated him on the Cross. When we are in Christ, no enemy can overpower us! However, we should always be aware he is there.

We fortify our power by being steeped in the word of God. We strengthen ourselves by canceling Satan’s plans in the name of Jesus! When God is for us, no enemy can overcome us.

Prayer:

Father, I bind the work of the enemy in the name of Jesus! Thank You that I am protected and strengthened by the blood of the Lamb, and that no enemy can defeat me!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. – Micah 7:18

God is good! He doesn’t just forgive you because He has to; He forgives you because He wants to! God delights in showing mercy. It breaks His heart when men and women refuse to turn to Him; but His heart delights when people who are far from Him say yes to Jesus Christ.

Mercy is the cancellation of bad; grace is the activation of good. Mercy means you don’t get the punishment you deserve; and grace means you do get the reward Jesus deserves! Because of the Cross, you are forgiven. Because God poured out His wrath on Jesus, there is no wrath – only mercy – left for you!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your mercy! I know You are a good God. You delight in showing mercy! Thank You for Your relentless pursuit of my life.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. – Ps 134:2

Why do we lift up our hands when we worship?

1) It’s a sign of surrender.

When you want to protect yourself, you wrap your arms around your body. When you want to expose yourself, you lift your arms up in the air. When we lift our hands in worship, we let God know that we are willing to expose our hearts to Him so He can change us, from the inside out.

2) It’s an expression of victory.

Scientists have found that raising our hands above our heads is an instinctive reaction to victory.[1] In a 2004 study, researchers even found that blind athletes – who could never have learned this behavior from watching others – instinctively “tilted their heads up, smiled, lifted their arms, clenched their fists and puffed out their chests.”[2] When we lift our hands in worship, we celebrate the victory Jesus has given us on the Cross.

Apart from God, victory and surrender are mutually exclusive – it is only possible to express victory when we no longer have to surrender; but worship is the only place we can celebrate victory and surrender at the same time. We raise our hands to show that we are surrendered in condition, but also to acknowledge we are victorious in position. We surrender to God because He has given us the victory in Jesus Christ!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the victorious surrender You have given me on the Cross. Help me to worship You with reckless abandon. I am victorious in life, and surrendered in worship, all of my days!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” – Jonah 3:2

God didn’t give Jonah the message in advance. He knew where to preach; but he didn’t know what! He simply stepped out and trusted God to give him the message in time.

God often communicates one step at a time. Sometimes He gives you the big picture up front; other times He doesn’t! Either way, take a first step out of obedience. As you do, He will give you the next step; and then the next; and then the next!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for speaking with me one step at a time. Give me the patience to hear from You, and to learn as I go, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” – Rev 4:8

Heaven is full of worship! Jesus showed John what Heaven was going to be like. Everywhere John looked, there was perpetual, continuous worship!

When we worship on earth, we practice for heaven. When we make a decision to worship, we invite heaven into our midst. As we worship, we invite God to make our lives look like the throne room: full of abundance, and filled with His presence!

Prayer:

Father, help me to worship with my whole heart! I want to worship You in Spirit and in truth now – on this earth – because I know that when I do, I’m practicing heaven!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. – Rev 3:8

God has the authority to open doors no one else can open. Invite Him to swing wide every door that needs opening in your life! He is able and willing to set open doors before you; but you have to invite Him into your life!

Pray for open doors. Pray that when He opens a door, you would have the wisdom and discipline to walk through it. Know with confidence that when God opens a door, no man can close it.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for open doors! Give me the wisdom to discern when You are holding a door open for me. Give me the motivation to walk through it quickly, in Jesus’ name!
