Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. – Heb 10:14

You have been “perfected forever!” That does not mean you will be perfect, and never make a mistake again. It does mean, however, that when you mess up, Jesus has already paid the price for your sin. Even though you won’t be perfect, you have already been perfected! Even though you are a work in progress, God has already made you whole!

Notice it is Jesus – not you – who did the perfecting. He already made you perfect; and that means you don’t have to try and be perfect on your own anymore. You simply get to receive the perfection He purchased for you 2,000 years ago on the Cross.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for perfecting me forever! I know sanctification is a process, but Your perfection came in a moment. Thank You for making me perfect, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands.” – Ezek 20:6

God didn’t just pick out “some land” for His people; He searched out the glory of all lands! He didn’t just give them something that would work; He gave them the absolute best!

The path God has carved out for you is not just good; it is the best. He made you you on purpose. You need something unique and specific to thrive, and God’s mission is to get it to you!

What God has for you is the best: the glory of all plans. Believe in His goodness. Believe that He has a plan for you. Follow Him with all your heart.

Prayer:

Father, I trust Your plan for my life. I know You want the best for me, even more than I want the best for myself! Help me to trust You – and to love You – with all my heart.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, when He heard their cry; and for their sake He remembered His covenant, and relented according to the multitude of His mercies. – Ps 106:44-45

Sometimes we forget our covenant with God; but God never forgets His covenant with us. When Israel cried out, God heard them; and when He heard them, He showered them with mercy!

What is the most important need you have right now? What is your biggest prayer request? Cry out to God! Pray out loud and activate your covenant with Him. He will hear you, remember His covenant, and rescue you: from every mess, and all your distress, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for hearing me! Thank You for remembering Your covenant with me, and showing me mercy. I receive Your grace, mercy, and favor, in Jesus’ name!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.” – Ezek 16:60

God’s people were evil. They were wicked! They were knee-deep in sin, and had forgotten about God. Nevertheless, God remembered His everlasting covenant with them.

Thank God for His “nevertheless!” God’s people were completely lost and totally disobedient; nevertheless God still promised to keep covenant with them. No matter what you’ve done, the door to covenant with God is still open. Return to Him, and receive His abundant love.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your never-ending love and Your infinite kindness. Thank You for never turning Your back on me, no matter what! You are a good, good Father; and I love You with all my heart!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God. – Heb 7:19

The law – the Old Covenant – could never make us perfect; it could only highlight our imperfection. The law could never get us close to God; it could only highlight how far we had drifted away.

But our new covenant is better (v 19)! Our New Covenant gives us hope. Our New Covenant lets us participate in the perfection of Jesus. Our better covenant gives us permission to, “…come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb 4:16). Our New Covenant accomplishes everything the Old Covenant never could.

Aren’t you so grateful you live under the New Covenant?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the New Covenant of Your Son Jesus Christ! Thank You for His death on the Cross. Thank You for the new life His death purchased for me!

Day 309: True Prophecy

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’ ” – Ezek 13:2

We must always prophecy from God’s word, not out of our “own heart.” Our hearts can be wicked:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? – Jer 17:9

So they need to be redeemed! And the only way to redeem a wicked heart is with the word of God.

True prophecy always lines up with God’s word. God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8), and a house divided cannot stand (Matt 12:25). God will not contradict Himself! He will not speak something today through His prophets that contradicts something He said in His word! If a word you receive from a “prophet” lines up with 1) God’s word and 2) what He has been speaking to you in prayer, receive it; but if a prophetic word ever disagrees with God’s word, beware!

Prayer:

Father, help me to recognize true prophecy. I know every genuine prophetic word will align with Your written word. I pray that whenever I receive or hear a word, I would measure it against Your word, in Jesus’ name.

Day 308: Patient Endurance

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. – Heb 6:15

God made a promise to Abraham. He swore that Abraham would become the father of many nations. He told Abraham, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you” (Heb 6:14). And Abraham believed.

Belief is always step one. We must believe that everything God promised will come to pass! But patient endurance turns belief into fulfillment. Patient endurance means waiting for the promise, even when it looks like it might never happen. Patient endurance means trusting God more than anyone else. Patient endurance means hoping in the miraculous, even when it seems ridiculous!

Your promise is on the other side of patient endurance. Wait well, knowing that everything God has promised will come to pass.

Prayer:

Father, give me patient endurance, in Jesus’ name! Give me the stamina to wait well, even when it seems like the odds are stacked against me. I know I will obtain the promise after I have patiently endured!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “And you, son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel…” – Ezek 7:1-2

God speaks through His people! He had a word He needed to deliver to the people of Israel; so He spoke through Ezekiel. God used one man to communicate one message to an entire nation. Ezekiel’s one word changed the course of history. So what is God getting ready to do through you? Even though you are one (wo)man, God can speak to many through you!

God will give you words for other people. God will also give other people words for you! Some of the best resources in life are the people around you. Listen up and hear what they have to say!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the power in Your word. Thank You for speaking through Your people. That means other people will hear Your word through me; and I get to hear Your word through other people!

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then the hand of the Lord was upon me there, and He said to me, “Arise, go out into the plain, and there I shall talk with you.” – Ezek 3:22

If you want to hear what God has to say, go where He told you to go! God wanted to tell Ezekiel something important; so He told Ezekiel to go and meet Him somewhere specific. Ezekiel went, and God spoke.

Whenever I’m not hearing from God I pause and reflect: what was the last thing He told me to do? Where was the last place He told me to go? More often than not, His next instruction follows on the heels of simple obedience. We don’t need to know the big picture up front; we simply need to take small steps, and do what the Holy Spirit invites us to do – one step at a time.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for leading me one step at a time! Help me to trust the leading of Your Holy Spirit. Help me to step out in obedience, and do what You call me to do, in Jesus’ name!

Day 305: You Are His House

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. – Heb 3:6

If we hold fast to our faith in Jesus, we are His “house.” If we are the “house” of Jesus Christ, that means:

  • He builds us
  • He lives in us
  • He keeps us clean
  • He maintains what He has built

In the same way you would never look at a house and say “build yourself!”, you should never look at your life and expect it to simply get better on its own. God is the Master Craftsman who raises you up, builds you up, and keeps you from crashing down: all of your days. Ask Him to build what no other man – not even you – can!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me Your house. Build me. Live in me. Keep me clean! Keep me strong, all of my days, in Jesus’ name.
