Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” – Rev. 12:10

Scripture calls Satan “the accuser of [the] brethren.” Satan’s idea of fun was accusing you before God day and night! But now he has been “cast down.” He doesn’t have access to God’s ear anymore. But since he no longer has an audience with God, he goes straight to you.

Voices of accusation are not of God. That whisper that you hear saying you’re not good enough, you’ll never make it to Heaven, you’re not worthy of salvation: that is Satan! His role is to accuse. And your role is to cast him out of your life. Tell him to leave, and remind him he has no authority over your life or your thoughts, in Jesus’ name!

Now there is such a thing as holy conviction. God will let you know when you are doing something that doesn’t align with His will. But He will never do so in a way that attacks your character. And He will always do so in a way that leaves you more sure of your salvation when you return to Him, and never less.

Receive conviction; reject accusation. Receive the voice of God; reject the accuser of the brethren! God wants you to know that you are loved in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, help me to discern between Your voice and the voice of the enemy. Teach me what Your voice sounds like! I accept Your holy, healthy conviction. I reject Satan’s unholy, shameful accusations. I admit I am far from perfect! But Jesus was perfect; and in Him I am more than enough.

Day 354: Witnessing Power

The Daily Word: Sunday, December 20th, 2020
Haggai 1:1-2:23
Revelation 11:1-19
Psalm 139:1-24
Proverbs 30:15-16
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.” – Rev. 11:3

Power comes when you witness. God will demonstrate His miracle-working power when you open your mouth and share the Gospel! Do you want to see more miracles in your life? Find people who don’t know Jesus, and tell them about Him. As you do, God will work with you and confirm His word with signs, miracles and wonders following.

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. – Mk. 16:20

Prayer:

Lord, make me a bold witness! I know that if I want to see miracles, I have to share the Gospel. I have to tell people who don’t know Jesus about Him! Make me fiery: ready and willing to share the Gospel at any moment, in Jesus’ name.

Day 353: The Time Is Now

The Daily Word: Saturday, December 19th, 2020
Zephaniah 1:1-3:20
Revelation 10:1-11
Psalm 138:1-8
Proverbs 30:11-14
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer… – Rev. 10:5-6

There is such a thing as the timing of God. In today’s verse, God had promised to move. And as soon as the angel, “…raised up his hand to heaven” (v 5) the promise started to unfold. God’s timing had played out! There would be no more delay.

There will be times God asks you to be patient. There will also be moments when He tells you to stand up and declare that the wait is over. If this angel hadn’t declared “that there should be delay no longer,” would there have been additional delay? If he hadn’t risen up and used the God-given authority that had been given to Him to prophetically decree an end to the waiting and a beginning to the fulfillment, would the status quo have ever changed?

Speak to your circumstance. Declare that there should be delay no longer! God has given you authority to rise up and declare that it is time for His promises to come to pass.

Prayer:

Father, there will be no more delay in my life! No more frustration. No more unfruitfulness. Help me to be patient! But help me also to be insistent when insistence is required, in Jesus’ name.

Day 352: The Seal of God

The Daily Word: Friday, December 18th, 2020
Habakkuk 1:1-3:19
Revelation 9:1-21
Psalm 137:1-9
Proverbs 30:10
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. – Rev. 9:3-4

Have you ever read the Book of Revelation? At the end of this age, plagues and judgments will wash over the earth. Locusts will arise from the “bottomless pit” (v 2) with the power to “torment” (v 5) anyone who is not marked with the “seal of God” (v 4). The suffering will be agonizing! “Men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them” (v 5). But those with the “seal of God on their foreheads” (v 4) will be protected and stay safe.

God protects His people. The Book of Revelation can be overwhelming and scary! But when you are marked by the “seal of God” – the blood of Jesus! – you have nothing to fear. The blood of Jesus protects God’s people from even the worst temptation and destruction! The blood of Jesus sets men free and makes men whole. Satan – our enemy – is real! The end of the world will come. But the blood of Jesus triumphs over all. His blood is always stronger than anything and everything else.

Do you have the blood? Then rejoice! Because you have nothing to fear.

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.” – Ex. 12:13

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for Your blood! Thank You that Your blood protects me from all the schemes of the evil one. Thank You that Your blood protects me from the destruction that will come to every man and woman who is not one of God’s people! I am so grateful that You protect me, in Jesus’ name.

Day 351: Mixed with Heaven

The Daily Word: Thursday, December 17th, 2020
Nahum 1:1-3:19
Revelation 8:1-13
Psalm 136:1-26
Proverbs 30:7-9
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. – Rev. 8:3-4

God hears your prayers. They come up to Him as a memorial:

And when [Cornelius] observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.” – Acts 10:4

But it doesn’t stop there. When you pray, your prayers are actually mixed with the things of heaven. Verse 3 (above) says that an angel in heaven added incense to the prayers of the saints. The prayers “ascended before God” with the smoke of the incense (v 4). When you make an offering of prayer, heaven makes an offering right along with you. Everything you pray will come up as a sweet-smelling aroma before God! But in addition, heaven will add to your prayers. The angels will make them even sweeter and more effective.

And do you know what that means? Even when you feel like you have nothing to offer God in prayer, offer it anyway. Help is standing by, no matter how weak or tired you feel! Your prayers – however seemingly feeble – will mix with the incense of heaven and come before God to accomplish what He pleases!

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” – Rom. 8:26

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making my prayers effective! When I don’t know how to pray as I should, you help me. I am so grateful! I will give you what I have in prayer, knowing that You will make my prayers effective and sweet.

Day 350: Though You Are Little

The Daily Word: Wednesday, December 16th, 2020
Micah 5:1-7:20
Revelation 7:1-17
Psalm 135:1-21
Proverbs 30:5-6
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2

Your size doesn’t matter. Your strength doesn’t matter! Truth be told, your level of education and expertise doesn’t really matter either. When God chooses you, His destiny will come forth. Yes, there is training required! But if God has chosen you, the hardest part is already done.

Nobody expected God to choose David:

So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” – 1 Samuel 16:12

But God had made his choice. And because the “Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward” (1 Sam. 16:13), David had everything he would ever need. He had God’s anointing. He had God’s vote of confidence in his destiny. And David would go on to become one of the greatest kings the world has ever seen!

You might be little; yet out of you will come an amazing destiny. God put you on this earth to do something that no one else can do! He chose you. Now go out and do it in His strength, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, help me never to doubt my calling. Thank You that the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. You have chosen me! And that is all that matters, in Jesus’ name!

Day 349: Don’t Get Too Comfortable

The Daily Word: Tuesday, December 15th, 2020
Micah 1:1-4:13
Revelation 6:1-17
Psalm 134:1-3
Proverbs 30:1-4
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid… – Rev. 6:13-15a

Everything you look to as “stable” will eventually crumble and fall. Scripture describes the end of time that will precede the final judgment. The stars of heaven will fall to the earth. The sky will roll back like a scroll! Every mountain and island will be moved.

Climate scientists produce similarly bleak predictions. According to Scientific American, “Unless new approaches are adopted, the global amount of arable and productive land per person in 2050 will be only a quarter of the level in 1960…due to growing populations and soil degradation.”[1] If we continue to consume the way we are consuming, farming on planet earth will only be possible for another 60 years. That’s less than a lifetime before our run on planet earth expires.

If that sounds terrifying to you, good. Because it is a reminder that you should not trust in anything you find here on earth. When the world fails, only God will remain. And if you don’t have a relationship with Him, you have nothing. Trust in Him; because when you do, even the end of the world will mean the beginning of eternal life for you:

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.” – Mk. 13:24-27

Prayer:

Father, help me to put my trust in You! I know that everything around me will fade. Only You will remain. The earth will continue to decay. The stars will fall from the sky! But when everything around me fails, You will remain. I thank You for it, in Jesus ‘ name.

Day 348: If You Were Royalty

The Daily Word: Monday, December 14th, 2020
Jonah 1:1-4-11
Revelation 5:1-14
Psalm 133:1-3
Proverbs 29:26-27
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” – Rev. 5:9-10

Would your life be different if you knew you were royalty? Would you waste less time on the mundane, and spend more time telling people about your kingdom and what your King is like? Because Scripture says that royalty is your reality and not just a fantasy when you give your life to Jesus Christ!

Look at the verses above. This is what Jesus has done for you! You are far from worthy; but He is perfectly worthy. He was slain, and He redeemed you to God by His blood. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’ve been or where you’re from: you are now part of the family of God. And not only are you family, you are royalty! You are a king and a priest in Heaven’s system of authority. You have power and you have an inheritance. You can hear God’s voice as a priest, and minister to Him in His presence! And knowing all that waits for you in Heaven, your job is to reign here on the earth.

You are a king and a priest. You have access to God and He has given you authority! Now go out and live like it, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for Your blood! Thank You for redeeming me to God. Thank You for making me a priest and a king before Him. From this day forward I will use my royal status to make a decree and tell everyone I can about Your kingdom, in Jesus’ name.

Day 347: He Is Worthy!

The Daily Word: Sunday, December 13th, 2020
Obadiah 1:1-21
Revelation 4:1-11
Psalm 132:1-18
Proverbs 29:24-25
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” – Rev. 4:9-11

John was given a vision of Heaven. The Holy Spirit took him into the throne room: the room where Jesus Himself sat. Around Jesus’ throne were “twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones…twenty-four elders” (v 4). And do you know what those elders were doing? Casting their crowns at the feet of Jesus. They were giving Him an offering because He is worthy!

When you see Jesus for who He truly is, you will have no trouble casting your most prized possession at His feet. After all, if He “created all things, and by [His] will they exist and were created” (v 11), why should we ever think anything belongs to us anyway? These elders had worked their entire lives for these crowns! Crowns in Scripture are described as a reward for a righteous life of devoted service to God (1 Cor. 9:24-25, Rev. 2:10). But when they saw Jesus, they immediately gave it all up. They gave Him everything they had to give without a second thought.

Jesus is worthy. He is holy! He is just and true. What can you give Him today that you have never given before?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your beautiful Son Jesus Christ. I want to worship Him with my whole heart! I want to worship Him with my whole life. You are the Creator of everything I have! So I gladly cast it at Your feet, in Jesus’ name.

Day 346: More Than Enough

The Daily Word: Saturday, December 12th, 2020
Amos 7:1-9:15
Revelation 3:7-22
Psalm 131:1-3
Proverbs 29:23
For full text click here.

Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. – Rev. 3:11

We often focus our prayers on what we don’t have. God, won’t You give me a better job? Won’t You bless me with a bigger house? Won’t you increase my salary?

But how often do we focus on what we do have? Instead of praying prayers of petition (i.e. asking for something), what if we prayed prayers of thanksgiving? By necessity, praying for something you already have means you are lifting up grateful praise to Jesus and acknowledging that He is the source of every blessing in your life!

What do you have? Be grateful for what you have before you wish for more. Thank God for what He’s done before You ask Him to do more! You have Jesus. You have an “imperishable crown” waiting for you in Heaven (1 Cor. 9:24-25). Isn’t that enough?

When you covet something you don’t have, you give the enemy authority to come in and take what you do have. When you love something or someone more than Jesus, it’s a sign of disdain for the infinite love God has already given you as a gift.

Be thankful. Be grateful! You have Jesus. And He is more than enough.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You. Thank You for Your presence. Thank You for Your Spirit! Thank You for everything You have already done: not only in my life, but 2,000 years ago on the Cross. Today I am making the decision to be grateful! Help me to make that choice every day, in Jesus’ name.
