Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel. – Josh 5:1

Israel didn’t have to fight to defeat their enemies. They simply went where God told them to go, and He showed up. When God showed up, the enemy gave up! Israel’s enemies heard what God was doing through them, and “their heart melted.” There was “no spirit in them any longer” because they heard everything God was doing.

Are you willing to believe God will do the same for you, as He did for Israel? God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8). His promise has not changed! You don’t have to fight to defeat your enemies. They will hear what God is doing through you, and they will simply give up. Their hearts will melt, and there will be “no spirit in them any longer.” Go where He has called you to go, and do what He has called you to do; and God will take care of the rest.

Prayer:

Father, You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. If You did it for them, You will do it for me! Thank You for fighting for me, and defeating my enemies before my face, in Jesus’ name!
