Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” – Gen 25:32

Esau was the first-born. Everything that belonged to his father would be his! But in one moment, that all changed. He gave up his birthright to his little brother, Jacob; and he did it for a bowl of soup!

One split-second decision can permanently alter your destiny. Don’t despise what God has asked you to treasure! Don’t give up what God has instructed you to hold dear. Cling to the good things He has given you. Don’t give up on anything He has called you to pursue!

Esau allowed fatigue to cause him to curse his destiny. He was tired; so he tossed aside his birthright: his most prized possession from God. Be careful, and be intentional. A swift decision that happens in a moment can bring about consequences that last a lifetime.

Prayer:

Father, help me to stand on Your word, instead of acting on emotion. Help me to make good, God-honoring decisions, in Jesus’ name!
