Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Isaac answered and said to Esau, “Indeed I have made him your master, and all his brethren I have given to him as servants; with grain and wine I have sustained him. What shall I do now for you, my son?” – Gen 27:37

Isaac’s blessings were powerful because God was with him, just as He had been with Abraham. Isaac blessed Jacob, “in the presence of the Lord” (v 7). When we bless in the name of Jesus, in the presence of the Lord, our words carry infinite weight!

Your words are powerful. If you speak blessings over other people in the name of Jesus, they will be blessed! Our senses have been deadened to the impact a spoken blessing can have on other people. We say “Bless you” when someone sneezes and don’t think anything of it. But our spoken blessings carry weight. God blesses us so that we can bless others: in word, and in deed.

Pray for your friends, family, and loved ones. Bless them – out loud – in the name of Jesus. As you do, they will be blessed!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me to bless others. I bless my friends and family in the name of Jesus. I know that if You bless someone, he or she can never be cursed!
