Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him. – Jn 2:11

Why was this Jesus’ first public miracle? Of all the things He could have done first, why would He choose to turn water into wine? Wasn’t there something more valuable He could have done with His time? Wasn’t there someone who needed healing, or a demon to be cast out?

Wine might seem like a small deal to us; but it was a big deal to the wedding hosts. Jesus cares about the details: no matter how big or how small. This wedding was important to Jesus because it was important to the people in His family. And as His disciples, you are His family.

There is no detail in your life that is too little to get God’s attention. There is no concern that moves you, that does not move God. Cast all your cares upon Him, “…for He cares for you” (1 Pet 5:7).

Prayer:

Father, thank You for treasuring every single detail in my life. There is nothing too small or insignificant for You. I will delight in You, because You delight in me!
