Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
He must increase, but I must decrease. – Jn. 3:30

If you want to be used by God, this must be the mark of your ministry. Jesus must increase, and you must decrease. John the Baptist was shaking the known world, baptizing people everywhere he went! But when Jesus showed up, some of John’s disciples were concerned:

And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!” – Jn. 3:26

John’s followers were worried that people would follow Jesus instead of John! But John was not worried. In fact, he was ecstatic. Why? Because he had come to point people to Jesus. John’s ministry was not about John! It was about Jesus, and all the glory went to God.

Let this be the honest cry of your heart: More of You, Lord, and less of me. He must increase, and we must decrease! Your life is not about you; it is about Him. There is a world that needs to see the glory and goodness of God! And He will show them as soon as we get out of His way.

Prayer:

Lord, You must increase, but I must decrease! I hereby lay down my pride and my own personal agenda. I ask that everything I do would be for You. Help me to promote You instead of myself! Help me to serve You instead of myself. All that I have and all that I am are yours, in Jesus’ name.
