Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” – Jn 4:39

Jesus affirmed the Samaritan woman. He knew the depth of her sin, yet offered her salvation all the same. He refused to judge or condemn her; He simply spoke the truth out of love, and proved God cares about her more than she could ever imagine by telling her something only God could know. The end result was a woman who told her whole city about Jesus, and a whole city that came to salvation through Him.

Prophecy is important. Paul tells us to earnestly, “…desire spiritual gifts…especially that [we] may prophecy” (1 Cor 14:1). John assures us that ,”…he who is least in the Kingdom of God,” is a greater prophet than John the Baptist (Lk 7:28). All believers should exercise the gift of prophecy and live a prophetic lifestyle!

If Jesus had never prophesied to the Samaritan woman, her soul might never have been saved. Be bold. Share the words God gives you with the people who need to hear them. Someone’s salvation depends on your prophecy!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the beautiful gift of prophecy. Help me to be bold and assure people that You care about them more than they could ever know by sharing the things You put on my heart.
