Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?” – Jn 7:14-15

Jesus didn’t study with the best Jewish scholars. He didn’t have to! He got His wisdom straight from the source: “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me” (Jn 7:16). Jesus knew the Word because He spent time with His Father.

You don’t have to have a Ph.D. in theology to know God’s will. Spend time with Him. You have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16), and His word is written on your heart (Jer 31:33). Jesus knew the word because He Is the Word (Jn 1:1); and you will know the word because He lives in You!

Prayer:

Father, make me a heavenly scholar. I want to know Your word and Your will. Help me to internalize Your word, and to enjoy time with You: all the days of my life!
