CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). To abide means to live in; to never depart. Jesus has instructed us to live in His word. When you make a cup of tea, there is a steeping process: a process through which flavorless and colorless water is impacted by new contents introduced to it. In the same way, we are to be steeped in the Word of God: flavor is added to our lives and we are conformed into the image of Jesus Christ. Abide in His word, and you will find true freedom!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the immense FREEDOM that comes with abiding in Your word! I pray that every thought, action and disposition in my life would be guided by Your word.
