Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

So Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you yourself desire, I will do it for you.” – 1 Sam 20:4

This is the depth of friendship God invites us to have. Jonathan and David were best friends. Jonathan would have done anything for David; and David would have done anything for Jonathan!

If you don’t have friends like that, ask God for them. The only reason David could rely on Jonathan is that God put Jonathan in David’s life! Ask God to surround you with friends who will stick with you through the good times and the bad. As you pray, they will come.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for all the great friends You have put in my life. Help me to be a great friend to others, in Jesus’ name!
