Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go to the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth. – 1 Sam 22:5

Saul was pursuing David with an entire army. David was hiding for his life. David felt safe in the stronghold: completely hidden from Saul! But God told David to move, so he listened.

True security doesn’t come from a “stronghold,” a fortress, or a safe. True security means being exactly where God wants you to be. Anything else –no matter how safe and secure you feel – is a counterfeit.

For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. – Psalm 61:3

Prayer:

Father, thank You for always shielding and sheltering me from the storms of life. I know I am safe and sound in You. I pray would always trust in You for safety and security: and nothing and no one else!
