Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” – Jn 10:1-2

Jesus promises eternal life (see Jn 14:6). The reason we should trust Him is because He ascended into heaven, and “sat down at the right hand of God” (Mk 16:19). Jesus did everything He promised He would do. He gave His life on the Cross, and then He was raised from the dead. He did it all to demonstrate that where He goes, we – His disciples – will follow.

We get to have confidence that we will follow Jesus into heaven because He went to Heaven first. Jesus didn’t make outlandish promises only to fall short on delivery. He did the stuff! He healed the sick. He cleansed lepers. He raised the dead. He cast out demons! And He did it all in front of thousands of witnesses!

What happens at the end of Jesus’ life is what separates Christianity from every other major world religion. Buddha is the central figure of Buddhism; but Buddha died of food poisoning at age 80. Muhammad is the central figure of the Muslim faith; but he fell ill and died in his bed at home! Jesus is the only Man to make a way to Heaven for every man and woman who calls on His name. He led the way so we can all follow!

Whom are you trusting to take you to Heaven?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making a way where there was no way! Jesus carved a pathway into Heaven for me; and I am forever grateful. I want to worship Him with my life, for all my days!
