Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.” – Ps 12:5

Safety and security come from the Lord. God’s promise is that He will arise – stand up and endure – for His people. Whenever we feel unsafe or insecure, He will protect and promote us: He will shield us where we are, and push us forward to where He wants us to be!

Do you feel financially insecure? God is the source of financial security. No amount of money in your bank account will ever make you feel secure; but God can! Do you have needs that are not being met? God is the One who meets every need. In fact, He supplies, “…exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph 3:20). God cares about your needs being met even more than you do!

Run to God. No matter what’s going on around you, He will keep you safe and secure, like no one else can.

For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. – Ps 61:3

Prayer:

Father, thank You for being my shelter and strong tower. Thank You that when I feel the world is getting too intense, I can turn to You. Thank You that whenever I feel insecure, You stand up and set me in a broad place!
