CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me…and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (Jn 14:21). To manifest means to show one’s self, or to make known. How can you hear from God more clearly and more often? Have His commandments written on your heart, and keep them. This verse, which exhorts us to keep God’s commandments, is enveloped by verses describing the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence. The message we are meant to see is that we can only internalize God’s commandments with the Holy Spirit’s help! Never try and do alone what God has already given Himself to accomplish.
Prayer:
Father, I pray that Your Holy Spirit would be my teacher, and guide me into all things. I want to hear from You more, and I know the pathway to communication is knowing Your Word!
