Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Bathsheba bowed and did homage to the king. Then the king said, “What is your wish?” – 1 Kings 1:16

This chapter details a beautiful exchange between Bathsheba and David, the king. Bathsheba is David’s bride, and mother to their son Solomon. Bathsheba is distraught: terrified at the prospect that David (the king) has forgotten his promise to her. This chapter is a picture of how God (the King) responds to us (His bride) when we come before His throne.

First, He listens. David was not angry because his bride came into his chamber with a request; he was merciful and willing to grant her wish! You are the bride of Christ; and that means you don’t have to fear to go before His throne!

Second, He fulfills. God is willing and able to fulfill all His promises! Some days it might seem like God has forgotten, or is unwilling to do what He has promised to do. But He is faithful and always true to His word. He does not forget, and He never fails!

And the king took an oath and said, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my life from every distress, just as I swore to you by the Lord God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place,’ so I certainly will do this day.” – 1 Kings 1:29-30

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your faithfulness! And thank You that You never forget. I have faith that You will do everything You have promised to do, in Jesus’ name!
