Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So the Lord will return his blood on his head, because he struck down two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword–Abner the son of Ner, the commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, the commander of the army of Judah–though my father David did not know it. – 1 Kings 2:32

You reap what you sow. Joab was a man of violence. He, “…shed the blood of war in peacetime” (v 5). He killed Abner and Amasa, the commanders of the armies of Israel and Judah, without King David knowing it! And the blood that was on Joab’s hands would return, “…on his head.”

You reap what you sow! If you pursue violence, violence will pursue you. If you lash out at others, others will lash out at you! Yet if you would make a decision to love others unconditionally, no matter what, God will make sure to surround you with people who love you.

The choice is yours. What kind of life will you live? Will you surround yourself with violence? Or will you surround yourself with favor and peace?

For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. – Matt. 7:2

Prayer:

Father, make me a (wo)man of peace. I know I reap what I sow! So I want to sow seeds of confident faith, and never of doubt. I want to sow seeds of peace, and never of violence, in Jesus’ name!
