Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – Matt 11:28

True rest doesn’t come from a vacation. It doesn’t come from a new job, a new apartment, or any other “fresh start!” You don’t need a weekend getaway to be well rested!  What if I told you true rest is possible for you – here and now, today – wherever you are, and whatever state you are in?

Jesus gives true rest. Are you tired of working so hard? Do you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders? Come to Jesus. Stop what you are doing, throw your hands up in the air, and give Him your burdens! Let Jesus take care of the difficult things waiting for you on your to-do list.

Jesus gives rest. That means rest is a gift; not a currency. You can’t earn it, and you can’t buy it. Rest is free! All you have to do is turn to Jesus and receive.

Prayer:

Father, I am worn out. I am exhausted from trying to do everything myself. In Jesus, name, give me rest! I know the more I lean on You, the more You can work through me.
