Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
You know how my father David could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which were fought against him on every side, until the Lord put his foes under the soles of his feet. But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence. – 1 Kings 5:3-4

Solomon had rest, because his father David had fought wars. Solomon enjoyed an inheritance of peace because his father had defeated all his adversaries!

You have a Father who has defeated all your enemies too! God sent Jesus to defeat Satan and conquer the grave. Because of the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, you have rest on every side!

The battle has been won. It is now our privilege to build God’s house from a place of perfect peace!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for rest on every side. Thank You that death has been defeated; and that means all that’s left for me to do is walk out perfect victory! I’m going to spend my life to build Your house, in Jesus’ name.
