Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth; yet they have not prevailed against me.” – Ps 129:2

Life is not easy. The Psalmist reflected that just as soon as he had gotten through one tough situation, another one always started. Whenever he prevailed over his enemies, they seemed to turn around and attack again.

The enemy is persistent! But no matter how often persecution comes, our hope is secure. The enemy cannot prevail against you, because Jesus has already prevailed against him. You don’t have to fight for victory; you get to fight from victory.

So when the trials and tribulations come, take it as a compliment. Scripture invites us to, “…count it all joy when [we] fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of [our] faith produces patience” (Jas 1:2-3). The enemy is trying to mess up your day because he knows you’re on the right track; but there is nothing he can do to stop you!

Keep going. Keep fighting. You cannot help but win, because you are victorious in Jesus!

Prayer:

Father, thank You that my victory is secure! Jesus already won the war; and I am victorious in Him. Help me to fight my everyday battles with faith, knowing that triumph is on the way in Jesus’ name!
