Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. – Acts 9:34
Aeneas was sick, and everyone knew it. He had been “bedridden eight years and was paralyzed” (Acts 9:33). Aeneas was one of the “saints who dwelt in Lydda.” He already believed in Jesus; but he didn’t know healing was available to him as a believer!
When the full Gospel was preached, everything changed. Peter’s simple words to Aeneas were, “Jesus the Christ heals you.” Jesus saves us; and He also heals us! Are you living as a disciple, but struggling with sickness or disease in your body? You don’t have to anymore! It starts by knowing Jesus heals. Healing and salvation happened on the same day!
By His stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus died on the Cross to save your soul; and He also died to heal your body! Why stop at one benefit of salvation, when the whole package is available to you?!
Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases… – Ps 103:1-3
Prayer:
Father, thank You for healing me! I receive Your healing right now over my entire body, in Jesus’ name! Thank You that Jesus’ death on the Cross means health and wholeness for my body and my soul!
