Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. – 1 Kings 19:2-3

Resistance follows victory. God had just achieved a huge victory through Elijah. Through Elijah, God brought an end to all the prophets of Baal, and proved to all of Israel that He is God!

But after the victory, Elijah didn’t have time to rest. He didn’t have time for a victory lap! The enemy immediately turned up the resistance. Jezebel – the wicked queen of Israel – sought Elijah’s life.

Elijah had to move; but he didn’t have to fear. God projected him, and provided for him; and in the end, God disposed of Elijah’s enemies. Thank God that no matter how much resistance increases, we have the victory in Jesus!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for victory! I declare that I will not be discouraged – no matter how much the enemy turns up the heat. You will take me from glory to glory, and I will praise You for it in Jesus’ name!
