Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then the king of Israel went out and attacked the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter. And the prophet came to the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself; take note, and see what you should do, for in the spring of the year the king of Syria will come up against you.” – 1 Kings 20:21-22

Resistance follows victory! God gave Ahab, the king over Israel, victory over his enemies; but immediately after the victory, God warned him to be ready! His enemy would come back in the spring: stronger than ever, and ready to fight. Ahab didn’t have to fear; he simply had to be ready. When Syria came to do battle with Israel again, God gave Israel victory again!

When you encounter resistance, take it as encouragement! God will give you victory, just as He always has before.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for consistent victory. I am victorious in You; and You are always willing to win victories through me! You are on my side; and that means I have nothing to fear, in Jesus’ name.
