Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it,” when you have it with you. – Prov 3:27-28

To simply refrain from evil is not enough. If we are to preach the Gospel in word and deed, we must actively promote good! Whom has God called you to help? Whom has He given you power to equip?

It is your responsibility to help those whom it is within your power to help. Cormier & Hackney (2011) define power as “access to resources,” and privilege as, “unearned advantage.”[1] Jesus has equipped us with power by giving us access to the resources of Heaven. He has anointed us with privilege by the grace – unearned favor – of God. So, whom will you help with the power and privilege He has given you?

Prayer:

Father, lead me to help people everywhere I go. I want to proactively promote good in the lives of people You put in my path. Help me to bless them and anoint them by the power of Your Holy Spirit living in me!
