Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Yet the Lord testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.” – 2 Kings 17:13

Under the Old Covenant, God testified by His prophets. When He needed to get His people a message, He picked an anointed prophet and spoke through him. When His people weren’t living up to their potential, He would send His prophets to let them know!

But under the New Covenant, you are God’s prophetic people (Lk 7:28). Whenever God needs to get you a message, He will speak to you directly! This is called the inward witness. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you; and He will speak to your spirit and tell you things to come (Jn 16:13)! You no longer need someone else to tell you what to do; listen to God, and act accordingly!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for open lines of communication with Heaven! Thank You for speaking to me directly. I am so grateful that I get to enjoy constant communication with You, in a way even the most anointed prophets could have only imagined!
