Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh… – Ps 2:4

God’s Kingdom is full of laughter! As the Psalmist foreshadowed the day when Jesus would be seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven, he noted that Jesus would be laughing. So as people who live in the fulfillment of God’s promise, why do we take ourselves so seriously? Why aren’t we laughing all the time?

God’s manifest presence should make us laugh! We should be happy to know our loving Father. What’s more, God invites us to laugh at our enemies. When people rebel against God, he simply laughs! He knows He is all-powerful, and that His victory is inevitable in the end. So when people lash out against you, laugh! You are a child of God; and because He is inevitably victorious, you are already victorious in Him. Instead of getting angry, God invites you to laugh in the face of opposition and oppression; because in the end, God always wins!

Jesus loves to laugh. Won’t you join Him?

Prayer:

Father, fill my hear with laughter. Jesus already won the ultimate victory on the Cross. I have nothing left to be worried about, and no one left to fear. Help me to laugh and enjoy victory, in Jesus’ name!
