Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And he called for two centurions, saying, “Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night; and provide mounts to set Paul on, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.” – Acts 23:23-24

Paul was in grave danger. The Jewish leaders wanted to kill him for preaching the Gospel. They convinced “more than forty” men (Acts 23:13) to pledge not to eat or drink anything until they had murdered Paul. How was Paul going to get out of this one?

When the enemy attacks, God defends! God safely delivered Paul from Jerusalem. The commander of the Roman garrison assigned no fewer than four hundred and seventy troops to guard Paul against his forty would-be attackers. Paul made it to Caesarea safely with his escort so he could preach the Gospel in yet another city!

Who is out to get you? Those who are for you are stronger than those who are against you (2 Kings 6:16). No “spiritual hosts of wickedness” (Eph. 6:12) can touch you! Trust that God will defend you, so that you can continue your mission and do what He has called you to do.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for defending me. Thank You that none of Satan’s plans to attack me will succeed! You have surrounded me with angelic protection and Holy Spirit provision, and I am grateful for it in Jesus’ name.
