Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
It happened in the spring of the year, at the time kings go out to battle, that Joab led out the armed forces and ravaged the country of the people of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab defeated Rabbah and overthrew it. Then David took their king’s crown from his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it. And it was set on David’s head. Also he brought out the spoil of the city in great abundance. – 1 Chron 20:1-2

This is what it means to be “more than a conqueror” (Rom 8:37). David didn’t lift a sword in battle! He simply received the victory someone else won on his behalf. A conqueror fights and overcomes; but one who is “more than a conqueror” enjoys the victory without even fighting!

You don’t have a Joab; but you do have a Jesus. Jesus already defeated death, and conquered the grave! He has already given you victory in your life! You don’t have to fight this battle called life on your own anymore; you simply get to receive the victory Jesus already won on your behalf.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the victory I have in Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank You that by His stripes, I am healed. Thank You that by His blood, I am free! I am forever grateful, in Jesus’ name.
