Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do…” – Gen 41:25

Pharaoh was not a Christian. Yet God spoke to him in advance to tell him what was about to happen so he could make preparation. Why did God give him a warning? Why did God speak to someone who didn’t seek Him?

Pharaoh was not a Christian; but he was a leader. God will speak to world leaders and communicate warnings, plans and vision. Pharaoh sought out Joseph – one of God’s people – to interpret his dream. Will you pray that the leaders of our city, our nation, and other nations all over the world do the same?

You certainly will not agree with every policy decision your local and national leaders make. In fact, you might be downright offended by some of the things they say and do. However, it is your responsibility to pray for them. If we don’t pray for them to make wise decisions, and heed God’s warnings, who will?

“There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God” (Rom 13:1). Our leaders are naked without our prayers. They need your help to make good decisions. Will you make yourself available for prayer?

Prayer:

Father, remind me to pray for the leaders of my city and country every day. Remind me to pray for leaders of nations all over the world. Lord, hear my prayers!
