Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for the tabernacle of meeting with God was there, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness. – 2 Chron 1:3

Solomon had much to do. He had to build a temple in Jerusalem! He was to reign over a kingdom his father, David, had established over forty years. He had people to manage, business to carry out, and more work to get done than you or I could ever imagine.

But what was Solomon’s first order of business as king? Seek the Lord. Before he did anything else, Solomon went to the “tabernacle of meeting with God” (v 3). He knew the first thing he should do – and the best thing he could do – was meet with God, and hear His will. Because Solomon took time to seek God first, God would give him the wisdom he needed to do all the rest.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. – Matt 6:33

Whatever you do, seek God first.

Prayer:

Father, I want to seek You first. Let everything I do flow from a place of worship & adoration: seeking You with all my heart, and all my soul, in Jesus’ name!
