Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Also the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones… – 2 Chron 1:15

Silver and gold weren’t just common in the palace; they were as common as stones throughout the whole city. Solomon was a wise and righteous leader. God gave him tremendous wealth; and his response was to share the wealth with his servants. He made sure his entire city enjoyed the same wealth God had given him.

Just as Solomon shared everything God had given him with the people in his city, so too should we! God has freely shared all He has with us; we should turn around and share what He has given us with others.

Solomon was royalty. And guess what? The Bible calls you royalty too (1 Peter 2:9). Just as God provided everything Solomon needed to build the temple at Jerusalem – resources, laborers, and connections – God will provide everything you need for the mission He has put on your life.

Give with royal generosity, knowing that God will meet all your needs!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me royalty. Thank You for giving me eternal hope, and an eternal future. Help me to take everything You have given me, and freely share it with those in need!
