Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” – 2 Chron 32:7-8

Hezekiah knew what King David had established long before him: God fights our battles for us.

Hezekiah was God’s trusted servant. When the king of Assyria brought his army against Jerusalem, he was not only attacking Hezekiah; he was also attacking God Himself. God defended Hezekiah and his nation, not only for Hezekiah’s sake, but also for His name’s sake.

God will fight your battles for you if you let Him! If God is for us, no man can defeat us.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for defending me. You sent Your Only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. That was the ultimate defense against Satan’s desire for my soul. Help me to honor You by defending Your Gospel, no matter what!
